Making a difference with Dementia Australia
At FMD Financial, we’re proud to support Dementia Australia, the national peak body for people impacted by dementia. Their work is deeply aligned with our values of care, advocacy, and support for individuals and families navigating life’s complex stages.
Dementia Australia is the trusted source of information, education and support services for over 433,000 Australians currently living with dementia, and more than 1.7 million people involved in their care. They are tireless advocates for change, championing the voices of those impacted by dementia and leading the way in education, research and awareness.
Their purpose is simple but powerful: to transform the experience of people impacted by dementia. That includes people living with all types of dementia, as well as their families, carers, and the health and aged care professionals supporting them.
Dementia Australia also works to reduce stigma, reshape community attitudes and inspire a more dementia-friendly society. From their 24/7 Helpline and personalised counselling services to award-winning education programs, the depth and impact of Dementia’s Australia’s work is extraordinary.
To support Dementia Australia across 2025, we started by hosting two raffles, the 2025 Starter and an Easter raffle, which together raised over $800, with matched donations from the business doubling that impact to $1600. Seeing our team across all offices come together—donating prizes, buying tickets, and rallying around this cause, has been truly heartwarming.
Next, we entered a team into Run Melbourne, and thanks to the generosity of clients, we raised an amazing $12,500 for Dementia Australia and we were the 5th most successful fundraising team for the event.
Most recently, we held our annual “Great FMD Bake-off” fundraising morning tea. Fiercely competitive bakers challenged each other for glory and generous staff members raised funds for the opportunity to sample the bakes and vote on the Star Baker. With matching from the business, we raised $800, bringing our total this year to almost $15,000
